Firsts: 2 Swim Lessons & A Wedding

We had an eventful week! Actually, every week is eventful, I just hadn't really thought to document it until recently. First of all, Jason and I decided to confront our issues with breastfeeding head-on this past week. Lachlan did protest, but, with love, earplugs, and consistency, Lachlan was eventually wooed back to the breast! He nursed all weekend, including our holiday Friday, and seems happier for it. Plus, Mommy feels very happy not to have a screaming baby each time I feed him! Friday we went to the Lactation Consultant to follow up on our bottle-feeding woes (happily over) and he weighed in at 15 pounds 4 ounces!! Even Barbara was pleasantly surprised by his thriving development. ("growing like a weed") Our ugly mugs will be on her commercial advertising her services. ( Unless that quick pic she took is just too ugly...maybe she can crop my too-casual dresshairface out)

Lachlan had two swim lessons last week! He floated with a little assistance from the instructor early in the first lesson-very exciting! And he loves the water! He kicks, splashes with his arms, and he never flinches, even when rowdy kids jump into the pool close by. I flinch way more. Mama and Papa are soooo proud! Only he doesn't seem that tired at the end, like the rest of the kids. Even the instructor noticed. We are slowly building up the stamina of our little tornado.

We went to a cousin's wedding this weekend, a few firsts for Lachlan: First time in a church (I guess that makes us heathens), first Mexican dance, first dance, first "concert" (there was a band).  He did beautifully. Didn't cry during the ceremony, although he start to "talk" so we took him to the cry room just-in-case, but there was really no need.  A Mexican dance (really a Texican dance, seeing as how this is not Mexico) is loud and dark and busy. Again, no crying, he was very entertained by the various relatives holding and meeting him, one kind girlfriend taking him for a short and sweet twirl in time with the music. She was a good dancer, so I was glad for him. The loud music didn't bother him, he just takes it all in...

And, finally, first Wimbledon! We did our now-typical Wimbledon breakfast with family and then sat and enjoyed the 15th major win for Federer. As the son of Jason Cannon, all of these majors will become a fixture in his memories, I know. Our calendars are clear on these championship Sundays, and Wimbledon is the most special. Participation mandatory. We cannot wait, (and "plan" each year)  to actually attend Wimbledon, the French, the US  & Australian Opens ( in order of desire) and it is fun to now think about which one we will take him to first
