Happy Returns Part Two

Yesterday's poopy diaper turned into a quick carpet cleaning as well. His diaper leaked, and as Lachlan sat beneath my chair, he oozed out poo on the floor and then dragged it around a little. This is our new life.

Anyhow, our first trip to Europe as a new family was pretty good. We flew into France, but spent most of the time in Belgium, and took a short trip to Holland. I know alot of people do not like to take big trips until their children can "appreciate" them, but honestly, we are not waiting around for Lachlan to turn 10 or 15 or even 25 because he may not appreciate it, really, until then. And in the mean time, we appreciate it, and we love having him with us.  And it really does do them well, they really do benefit from it. He's had a few plane trips now, been on the busy Paris subway, taken the trains...And I think he really enjoyed them. (Unlike the car/carseat which he still hates) He knows that behind and next to us are all of these people for him to interact with, and it doesn't bother him. I know all of that could change in a few months, but that's ok. Jason met a young mother at the airport who told him after 12 months babies are very difficult to travel with. So I am really glad we are doing it now. I am no longer afraid of the long trip to Australia we are planning before the turns a year old. (Although that will involve more carseat travel once we get there) My friend Scarlett and her husband and young son, Marlon, took care of Lachlan while we went to Spa, which made me nervous, not because of them (they were all super great with him), but because we had never left him with anyone other than my Mom, Dad and sister and I didn't know how he would react. Would he scream the whole time? Some afternoons he gives Jason a really hard time. But apparently he was very easy.
